We’ve been remodeling kitchens across Cookeville and Middle Tennessee for over a decade now, and there’s one question we ask at the start of every single project:
“What do you want it to feel like when you walk in?”
Not “what color cabinets” or “what countertop material.” Not even “island or peninsula.” Those questions matter, but they come later. First, we need to understand how you want your kitchen to feel.
Because here’s what we’ve learned: A lot of people don’t have vision for their space. That’s not a criticism—it’s just reality. Most homeowners can’t visualize what their kitchen could become. They see what’s there now—the outdated cabinets, the cramped layout, the chipped laminate—but they struggle to imagine the transformation.
That’s where we come in.
Helping You See What’s Possible
“We’ve worked with so many people who cannot visualize what the space needs,” Alec explains. “We help create that vision for people who struggle with seeing their space and what it could be.”

That means spending time—real time—understanding how you cook, how you gather, how you live in your kitchen every single day. When you’re working with a husband-and-wife team like us, we have more time to carve out, and we use it to be very specific with each customer.
“I will spend hours researching different formats for kitchens if there’s something the customer’s really wanting to see or they’re really wanting a feel or rhythm in their kitchen that they don’t currently have,” I (Josie) share. “I’ll spend hours researching that just for them.”
That’s not how larger corporations work. They’ve got streamlined processes and cookie-cutter solutions. Those work great for suburban new builds, but for the historic homes and unique spaces we work on in Cookeville? You need someone who’s going to invest the time to get it right.

Feel Over Formula
Don’t get me wrong—formulas have their place. The kitchen work triangle? That’s valuable. Standard cabinet heights, recommended aisle widths, all of that? Great starting point.
But how you’re wanting a space to feel should often dictate how you develop this space.

Maybe you need a massive island because your family gathers there every single day—homework, meals, conversations. Maybe a peninsula makes more sense because you want better flow between the kitchen and dining room. Maybe you need lower counters because you do a lot of baking. Maybe you want the sink facing the backyard so you can watch the kids play.
These aren’t details you find in a formula. They come from understanding you.
What We Actually Do in Kitchen Remodels
Alec and I handle everything—and I mean everything—in kitchen renovations:
Cabinetry & Layout: Custom or semi-custom cabinets, islands, peninsulas, pantry solutions
Countertops: Granite, quartz, marble, butcher block, laminate—whatever fits your budget and style
Fixtures & Appliances: Sinks, faucets, dishwashers, garbage disposals, range hoods
Backsplash & Tile: Custom tile work, subway tile, decorative patterns
Flooring: Hardwood, tile, luxury vinyl, refinishing existing floors
Electrical & Plumbing: Complete system upgrades, relocations, new circuits
Lighting: Task lighting, under-cabinet, pendant fixtures, recessed lighting
Paint & Finishing: Color consultation and expert application
“We handle everything from cabinetry design, spacing of the cabinets, what type of cabinets to go where, countertops, backsplash, replacing faucets, flooring, paint colors—you name it,” Alec explains.
And if something comes up that’s outside our expertise? We’ve got trusted subcontractors we work with regularly. But we try to do as much as possible ourselves because it keeps quality high and costs reasonable.
